Broke on Google Adwords?
By Kim Roach (c) 2006
Excerpt from article.
You've heard the stories. Clíck
fraud has run rampant on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. This is evidenced
by the numerous law suits that have been filed.
One of the most notable cases occurred this year when Google settled
their own clíck fraud case to the tune of 90 million dollars.
In fact, Google and Yahoo have each settled a class action lawsuit
filed by marketers.

This article discusses the problem of
click fraud within the PPC industry. There has been many disputes
thorughout 2006 with Google and Yahoo settling thier own disputes
with their advertisers. The engines aren't telling us what they
are doing to combat this problem but their is evidence that they
are filtering out fraudulent clicks.
Most big spending advertisers should be
using third party tracking software to monitor the incoming traffic
from search engines. They can at the end of the month reconcile
the report of thier logs to googles log. If there are fraudulent
clicks then a refund can be made.
Problem with click fraud is that it affects
everone. The major search engines can't tell us how they are combatting
the problem as hackers will try to break the system.
Time will tell whether the current PPC
model works or not, it all depends on how much advertisers are willing
to put up with it and if Google and Yahoo are willing to invest
to protect their livelihoods.
